![]() | Dominic![]() The part of our young Geoffrey Shawcross was played by Dominic Monaghan, fresh out of drama school at the time, whose credits now include the BBC telemovie "Monsignor Renard" and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, as well as starring roles in several upcoming British movies and an American TV show premiering in September 2004. Geoffrey was Dom's first major acting gig, and he has said he looks back on the series fondly as the role that got him out there. And well he should -- Geoffrey is an adorable character, cheeky and clever. He got all the best lines, not to mention a fine selection of coats and gloves...and let's not forget those sideburns. Dom is one of my favorite actors (as anyone who's read my LJ knows in painful detail), and I wanted to make a site for his earliest and cutest role, which is bound to be overshadowed by a certain hairy-footed resident of Buckland (not to mention a certain English bassist of dubious sobriety). Dom's talent lies far beyond looking cute in pointy ears, or pointy facial hair for that matter. His range is excellent, and he's already proven he can handle himself in TV, film, comedy or drama. He's bound for a long and interesting career. ![]() (Grew up nicely, eh?) Listen to the audio. Trust me. Dom on HWI : "I did that when I was 18 through to 20... That was kind of family entertainment in England, which is great, you know, for the whole family to be able to sit down and watch it. People would turn to me in the pub and go "Aren't you that tiny, greasy-haired spotty guy from Hetty Wainthropp Investigates?" That was the first job I'd ever done, and it got me to where I am now, so I have a real love for that thing." |
